Mistakes and fixes
| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| No clear goal | Pick one goal per quarter and measure it |
| Too many platforms | Do one or two well before adding more |
| Stock photos only | Show your team, work and customers |
| Slow or no replies | Answer comments and messages within hours |
| Bursts then silence | Post on a steady schedule you can keep |
| Counting likes only | Track messages, calls and bookings |
Content mistakes
Instagram says it shows reposted and watermarked reels less. Content made for one app and dropped on another often looks lazy. Long text on images, low-resolution video and generic quotes also lose attention fast.
Rule mistakes
- Running giveaways that ask people to share to enter on Facebook
- Posting paid partner content without a clear disclosure
- Buying followers, which the FTC rule can make illegal
- Using music you do not have rights to in business posts
Process mistakes
Nobody owns the account, so posting stops when one person leaves. Logins sit in a former employee's name. Make sure the business owns every profile, with at least two admins.
Good example. A cleaning company cuts from five platforms to Facebook and Instagram, posts three real job videos a week and replies within the hour.
Bad example. A cleaning company posts daily stock graphics on five platforms and misses messages for days.
Read how often to post. Our social media marketing fixes these in the first month.
