A starting rhythm
| Platform | Starting point | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2 to 4 posts a week | Events and local updates do well | |
| 2 to 4 posts or Reels a week | Stories on days with news | |
| TikTok | 3 to 5 short videos a week | Volume helps you learn faster |
| 1 to 3 posts a week | Quality and expertise matter most | |
| YouTube | 1 to 4 videos a month | Videos keep getting found |
These are starting points, not platform rules. No platform publishes an ideal number.
Why consistency beats volume
Instagram ranks posts by predicted interest, like whether people will watch, like or share. A rushed post rarely earns that. A steady rhythm also shows visitors the business is active.
Signs to change the rhythm
- Reach per post drops as you post more often.
- Quality slips because you rush content.
- Messages pile up because nobody has time to reply.
- Weak posts bury the strong ones.
Plan around capacity
Count how many good pieces you can make in a typical week, including photos from real jobs. Set the schedule to that number, not to an ideal. Then batch content ahead for busy seasons.
Good example. A bakery posts three Reels a week from real bakes and adds Stories for daily specials. It keeps the pace all year.
Bad example. A bakery posts daily for two weeks, burns out and goes quiet for two months.
