Three kinds of dates
| Type | Examples | Plan ahead by |
|---|---|---|
| Holidays | Thanksgiving, July 4th, Mother's Day | 6 to 8 weeks |
| Seasons | Storm season, back to school, tax time | 4 to 8 weeks |
| Local events | Festivals, games, charity runs | 2 to 4 weeks |
Pick the dates that fit
Ask whether your customers care and whether you have something real to say. A pool company has a lot to say before Memorial Day. It has little to add on National Donut Day. Fewer, stronger date posts beat a calendar full of greetings.
Plan each one
- NeedName the customer need behind the date.
- OfferAttach a real offer, tip or update.
- AssetsShoot photos and video weeks ahead.
- TimingPost before interest peaks, not on the day.
Local events build familiarity
Sponsoring a youth team, joining a festival or posting from a community event shows you are part of the area. Tag the event and partners, and follow their rules for photos of attendees.
Good example. A plumber posts a freeze-prep checklist two weeks before the first cold snap and offers pipe insulation checks. Calls arrive before the freeze.
Bad example. A plumber posts a "Happy Holidays" graphic on December 25th. Nobody needs a plumber reminder that day.
