How much does it cost to have a website designed?

Short answer

A professional website for a small business usually costs several thousand dollars, and custom builds with many pages, booking or integrations cost more. Our custom websites start at $5,000, priced by industry. The price that matters is what the site brings in calls and leads, not the lowest quote.

What our websites cost

Our custom websites start at $5,000. The price depends on your industry. A law firm needs more pages and proof to compete than a small cleaning company. One landing page for ads starts at $300.

Every build includes custom design and a CMS your team can edit. Leads flow into Smarfle, our CRM, or whichever CRM you run today. Speed work, SEO setup, tracking and launch support come standard. You own the domain, the site and every account.

Why quotes vary so much

Two quotes for the same site can differ by thousands because they include different work. A low quote often covers visual design only. Copywriting, redirects, tracking, speed work and post-launch fixes then show up as extra invoices or never happen.

Often missing from cheap quotesWhat it costs you later
Copywriting for each pageThin pages that do not rank or convert
Redirects from old URLsLost rankings after launch
Call and form trackingNo way to know what the site brings in
Speed workSlow pages that lose visitors on phones
Ownership of the code and accountsA site you cannot move or edit without the vendor

Ask these questions before you sign

  • How many pages does the price cover, and who writes them?
  • Is mobile design part of the price?
  • Are GA4, Search Console and conversion tracking set up?
  • What happens to old URLs and rankings in a redesign?
  • Who owns the code, the design and the hosting account?

Ownership deserves a written answer. Under U.S. copyright law, work an outside contractor creates usually stays with the contractor unless a written agreement transfers it. Ask for that agreement.

Good example. A dental site has a page for each treatment, the doctor's bio and insurance details. Real reviews, a tap-to-call button and a quick booking form close the deal.

Bad example. A dental site has one generic services page, stock photos, no phone button on mobile and no tracking.

See what affects website cost. Our web design team quotes the full scope up front, with nothing hidden for launch.
