Our timeline
- Week 1PlanPage list, sitemap, keywords and design direction
- Week 2DesignHomepage and key page designs for approval
- Week 3BuildPages, content, forms, tracking and redirects
- Week 4LaunchFinal checks, launch and Search Console setup
The clock starts when the content and access arrive, not at the first call. Larger sites take longer, so we date every step at kickoff. Forterra Pest Control went live with 377 pages in its first month, including 181 redirects from its old site.
What we need before the clock starts
- The main goal, such as calls, bookings or quote requests
- The list of services and areas you want pages for
- Real photos of your team, work and place
- Logins for your domain, hosting and Google accounts
- One person who approves copy and design within a day or two
The real bottleneck is decisions
A five-page site can drag for months if nobody approves the homepage or sends photos. A larger site launches on time when one person owns approvals and content arrives early.
Good example. A lawn care company sends its services, area list, crew photos and logins in week one. Its site goes live four weeks later.
Bad example. A business asks for a modern website with no page list, no photos and nobody to sign off. Every page turns into a new decision.
Redesigns need extra care
A redesign of a site that already ranks needs a redirect map and checks after launch. Google's site move guide covers both steps. Its guide on hiring an SEO suggests bringing one in before a redesign, the earlier the better.
